Many of us have been disappointed that our favorite coffee
place has been forced to close. We're talking about, Casa
de la Café,
on Hidalgo. The good news is, they are still in business, and will be glad to
deliver their deluxe coffee to your home or place of business for free, anywhere
in San Miguel. They were voted in Atencion's readers survey as the best coffee
in town. Call 152-2604 or 152-1783. They will deliver whole bean or ground. VIP
Club Members still get 10% off with an order of a kilo or more.
Club member, Tomas Le Noir, of
Galeria Le Noir, Jesus
#2, invites all to an exquisite painting exhibit, ENCUENTROS COTIDIANOS (DAILY
ENCOUNTERS), with a talented young artist: Santiago Corral who enjoys national
and international recognition and an ever growing list of collectors. Opening:
Saturday, January 27th at 7:00 pm at Galería Le Noir. The exhibit
will be showing until Wednesday, March 14th, 2007.
There will be a great chili cook
off, a fundraiser to help Centro de Crecimiento, a fine organization dedicated to help handicapped
kids here in our town. It will take place at The Texas Long Horn BBQ, under the
tent, on the back lot, behind La Palapa, the taco joint, that's up the street
and behind Espinos. Many of your fellow members, including Keith Thompson, are
working hard to make this fundraiser a go. There will be lots of familiar faces
(good and bad, lol) and a good time. VIP Club Members, by showing their cards,
receive their first drink gratis! Come: help taste and judge the plethora of
chilies, spend a few pesos and have a nice Sunday while dealing with NFL Football
withdraw.

Berlin and El Campanerio for finishing tied for first as the best dinner house
in town according to the survey. Harry's L'Invito, Princesa de la Cava,
Tio Lucas and L'Escargot received honorable mentions. Harry's was voted
best bar in town and Berlin, Romanos and Princesa de la Cava were close runners
up. Ten-Ten Pie was honorably mentioned as one of the best places to have lunch.
Café de Jardin received an honorable mention as best breakfast in town.
Catching our breath and Lastly . . . We've had a heck
of a time getting e-mails to our membership. It is more like a comedy of errors
or some Murphy's Law! When our server (cybermatsa) is not on lovey-dovey
terms with aol.com or prodigy.net.mx,
all the mails come back as undeliverable from those two servers. Last time, we
broke our large address book down and sent out ten, different, bulk e-mails from
our g-mail account and they all came back. The worse part, despite us taking
great pains to see the address go out as BCC. which means they are invisible,
except each recipient receives their notice--don't you know on one of the
ten was posted the entire mailing list in that particular mailing. How this happened,
after taking great precaution, we have no idea, yet we were the sender. It was
and always is a great embarrassment to your club when this type of glitch occurs.
We are all learning to detest intruding spam. We guard our address book wholeheartedly.
Our mailing list has never been, and is never for loan or sale. You have our
word on this. Yet stuff happens. We are striving to obtain a bulk e-mail program
that will be fool proof. We thank you for your understanding on these matters
and urge our robust membership to visit our official webpage for all the latest
updates or contact us back here for your questions. http://www.vipsanmiguel.com/
Report lost or misplaced cards here for immediate replacement.
Thank you for your continuous and loyal support.
