  • Baile Cafe, located inside Arthur Murray Dance Studio's rear patio, Hernandez Macias #68, 152-0097. The restaurant has been operating for some time with a good reputation and offers a varied menu serving both national and international dishes. Juan Carlos, former chef at Planta Baja is your host.   • Buen Café - ( New Location), Jesus #36, 152-5807.  Breakfast lunch, open 'til 4 p.m. Closed Wednesdays, Sunday brunch special menu NYC style, 10 - 2 p.m. Garden setting and indoor seating.   • Café de San Francisco, Posada San Francisco - Plaza Principal 2, Tel. 152-2486. Courtyard and street side dining, full menu, Mexican cuisine including seafood and full bar. They have expanded, in a sense, because what used to be known as "Alfredo's" has now been incorporated under the same name, Café de San Francisco.  The menu is the same in both restaurants. All is open now seven days a week: the patio restaurant, bar, and back dining room. 10% discount to VIP Club card holders.


  • Cafe etc. AKA Juan's Cafe, Relox #37, 154-8636. Open everyday, inexpensive complete breakfasts and lunch. Many items to chose from. Free Internet, and Spanish lessons, philosophy classes and spiritual meetings.


  • Café Monte Negro, Correo #14, Tel. 152-1448, open seven days a week, 8:30 am - 9:30 pm. Cafe Monte Negro serves breakfast, lunch and comidas, plus an array of bake goods, smoothies and coffees.   • Cafe Rama, Nueva #7, 154-9566. Hip fusion cuisine, late night tapas on weekends, full bar. Chef Jason creates and presents various treats from multi course foodie dinners on certain nights to good home-made international favorites. VIP Club members may take 10% off their bill


  • Carcasonne (car-ca-son) Correo #34, 152-0053, open everyday, Sunday through Thursday 1 - 10 pm., Friday and Saturday 'til 11 pm. Carcasonne, at first specialized in French dishes but now has added an array of International plates. Some favorites are the escargots, the duck, beef Wellington and a wide variety of other dishes.   • Cumpanio, off the corner of Correo and Recreo, 15 . . . . 152-23-27, contemporary downtown eating emporium with window seating especially designed for people watching or the rear room, plush, upscale intimacy, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner with a full bar. A combination bakery/restaurant Cumpanio offers an international menu; lamb chops, curry dishes, meats, poultry and more. VIP Club members may take off 10% when paying in cash. (Bakery items for take out are excluded from the Club discount.)


  • Dragon, Salida a Celaya #71, 185-8686-or 8687, open seven days a week, Noon 'til 9 p.m. Dragon specializes in Chinese food. Dragon's menu is extensive and carries all your favorite Chinese dishes. There is free and ample off road parking, exclusively for Dragon customers just down from the restaurant. They also offer free delivery. Dragon now offers VIP Club members 10% off food and drink, in restaurant dining or take out. For now NO discount for home delivery. Also, Wednesdays and Fridays are BYOB days. No corkage fee . . . yet Jose Luis asks patrons to remember their waiters.


  • Dos Casas Restaurant-- located inside the small luxury hotel with the same name on the corner of Umaran and Quebrada. 154-4073. Open seven days a week from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m. except Mondays when they close at 2 p.m. The charming white table clothed restaurant has a diverse menu for fine dining.   • El Manantial, corner of Barranca and Huertes, 110-0007, open almost every day, 5 'til late.Closed on Mondays. El Manantial, is one of the oldest, if not the oldest cantina in San Miguel. VIP Club members may take 10% off their bills when it exceeds 100 pesos.


  • El Meson Hotel, Mesones #80, 152-0580, open seven days a week, breakfast, lunch and dinner. A beautiful setting for any occassion. Recently the restaurant portion has been taken over by the hotel's management. Many of you know Alvaro, owner operator of the hotel, and also the force behind VIP Club participating restaurant El Correo. The hotel/restaurant serves a complete breakfast menu. The lunch and dinner menu is a diverse combination of traditional national and international dishes.   • El Pegaso, Corregidora #6, 154-7611. Since its beginnings, El Pegaso consistently set the gold standard when it comes to operating a restaurant in San Miguel. Open everyday, except Wednesdays, for breakfast lunch and dinner. El Pegaso, renowned for good food, reasonable prices, and an attentive staff; long-timers still rave about El Pegaso's eggs benedict, or the Chiles en Nogada or their famous pork loin. Emphasizing: no longer strictly a vegetarian restaurant, a mix of Italian and Argentine synergy, arrachera, Rib Eye, pastas, great wines and "Eat Well, Feel Better."   • Fenicia, Zacateros #73, Tel. 154-7874, is open 12-6 Monday and Tuesday. Wednesday through Ssaturday til 8:30.  Lebanese and Middle Eastern foods are the specialty at Fenecia. They offer tasty salads such as Fattuch, Tabbule, Mafuf with pita bread. They also serve Falafel, Kaftua (beef), Kibbe (lamb) a number of shishkabobs, beef, lamb and chicken and much more!   • Garufa, off the corner of Canal and Hernandez Marcias, #15, 154-6555, Argentine themed Steak House, showcasing a well-lit, modern, decor in rich woods specializing in man-sized Southern Hemisphere meat dishes. Yet there are a number of other choices from poultry to those delicacies stemming from the sea and veggie dishes. Very interesting appetizers. One peso corkage charge on Wednesdays and Thursdays.   • Hacienda Guadalupe Restaurant, Hidalgo #4. 121-0700, beautiful re-gentrified hotel restaurant. Extra generous happy hour deals from their full bar. Casual elegance, new menu carrying both national and international meals. Soups and salads with revolving menu and an array of dishes to match many tastes. Thursday nights salsa dancers headquarters.   • La Cantesse Hotel Restaurant. Located next to the entrance to Los Frailes, La Cantesse is a great alternative for folks living in that area who don't wish to venture into town. Open early for breakfast, 7:30, 7/365 and open 'til 11 p.m. Full Mexican faire menu.   • La Crepe, Hospicio #37, 154-9435. San Miguel's crepe sensation, closed Wednesdays, yet other than Wednesday, open, Monday til Saturday 1 - 10 pm, Sundays 11 - 4 pm. More than just crepes: La Crepe serves a variety of soups, salads, meats and fish along with its mainstay, a plethora of perfectly prepared crepes filled with scrumptious ingredients chock with flavors from the four corners of the Earth.   • La Felguera Restaurante, located inside Posada Carmina Hotel, Cuna de Allende #7, 152-8888. Long time a local favorite eating establishment for breakfast, lunch and dinner, indoor and outdoor seating. La Feguera, moderately priced, offers traditional Mexican specialties with full bar.   • La Gruta Restaurant (and Spa) is also available for private parties, after hours, with or without special served meals. Your contact there is General Manager Gonzalo Tapia who speaks great English.   • Mama Tina - Sabor a Mexico - (former location of Romanos) Hernandez Macias #93, 152-3167. Open Tuesday through Sunday 1 pm - 1 am featuring traditional Mexican cuisine. Noted for home-made fine moles and chilis en nogada, Mama Tina's prepares its meals the old fashion ways. Enjoy dining downstairs or up on the rooftop setting.   • Mi Casa Restaurant, Tel. 154-5890,  inside Instituto Allende, formally the location of L'Invito. Mi Casa is open six days a week, Sunday through Friday, 1- 10 p.m closed Saturdays for special events. Mi Casa is operated by the Fernandez family with culinary expert and daughter Andrea at the helm. The food consists of time honored Mexican dishes along with  some international meals favored around the globe. There's a full bar and a magnificent view from the patio.   • Oliver's has moved to Salida de Celaya, across from Longhorn, Tel. 154-7385. Oliver's has established itself as a Mecca for hamburgers here in San Miguel. Open Tuesday through Saturday, Noon 'til 10 p.m. Sunday 12-7 p.m. They serve a number of types of burgers rather they be Mexicano, French, Texan a slew of others with the whole shebang of ingredients that give them more gusto. Oliver's offer fries and other side dishes along with Philly Cheese Steaks! For those who don't eat meat, Oliver's has chicken burgers and Portabella mushroom and cheese burgers.   • Pescau Del Mar Al Bar, Jesus #21 152-8800. Pescau offers an array of fresh seafood, raw and cooked, along with meats and poultry. Pescau serves soups and rice dishes too.   • Petite Bar, Hernandez Macias #95. Older members remember Petite and Market Bistro were a charter member restaurant and bar that have been with the club since the year 2000. Sanmiguelense and long time VIP club member, Tomas LeNoir, has taken the reins. Right now it is just a bar. The restaurant portion of the establishment is temporarily on hold. Cooked food is on the near horizon. This weekend look for a hot rock reggae band Friday and Saturday nights. VIP Club members may take 15% off their tabs after they exceed 100 pesos and pay in cash.


  • Pizza Pig, located a couple of kilometers outside town on the hiway heading for Dolores, at the intersection for the Toboada pools and spa, 110-2153, open Tuesdays/ Saturdays, 1 - 9 pm. and Sundays, 1- 8 pm. Lips smacking thin and crispy crust pizza. Many toppings, three sizes, take out or eat in, also, salads and pizza deserts, no kidding pizza desserts. More to come in the near future.   • Restaurante Sicilia en Bocca, Salida a Queretaro #91, 152-0406 cel 415-107-2401. Sicilia en Bocca specializes in southern Italian dishes with time honored, original, handed-down recipes. The restaurant has a spectacular terrace view looking down at our town. Sicilia en Bocca, serving lunch and dinner, closed Mondays, open Tuesday - Frirday 1 pm until 10 pm and Saturdays and Sundays they open at 11 am. Juan Manuel is your host.   • The Restaurant-- Sollano #16, 154-7877.  They are now open for lunch from Noon to 4 p.m.  And their unique drinks specials run during happy hour 5-7. The Restaurant also has a new mouth watering bar menu and that menu is available until 11 p.m. Tuesday Through Saturday. Closed Sunday and Monday. Set in a quaint and comfortable courtyard the menu is a mix of Nuevo and traditional dishes designed and prepared by expert chef Donnie and wife Cynthia.   • VC and Friends, a new restaurant show place, Hernandez Macias #83, open Wednesdays until Sundays late, with live entertainment each night starting at 9 pm, featuring a strong line-up of the town's most popular entertainers. Food service until midnight. VC serves an assortment of tacos, tostadas and seafood cocktails and has a full-bar with beer, wine and spirits.   • Venus Lounge (Thai and Vietnamese) Mesones #74, 154-4120, open seven days a week 1 p.m. until midnight. Venus has earned impressive rank as the bellwether, chock-full-of-taste Oriental eatery in centro! If you like it hot, they make it hot, with many Oriental favorites. Operators Sam and Rod want to be part of Your Club! Venus has a full bar and often offers live music on certain evenings with ad-hoc line ups of some of San Miguel's best jazz musicians.   New restaurants are added frequently, and occasionally restaurants drop out of the program with 60 days notice. Ask for the bi-monthly restaurant club newsletter at authorized outlets for detailed information on restaurants and the current list of participants. All participating restaurants are under contract with the San Miguel Restaurant Club to provide the same fine service as they would to patrons who walk in off the street. Discounts are waived during happy hours, 2X1 specials or other special events in which the restaurant is offering discounts to the public at large.
